Visits and Research

Lots of trips this month to local museums and galleries, Shibden Hall, Bankfield Museum and Dean Clough. I have been looking into the local history of Halifax and Calderdale also with Calderdale Heritage Walks and multiple library visits in Sowerby Bridge, Hebden and Halifax. This is the starting point for my DYCP, taking note of the landscape and its history, I have been looking at place, identity, local customs and traditions. Connecting with local history groups and museums. I have recorded this information and it will set a foundation for drawings and ideas for further more in-depth research. Main areas of interest so far: Chartists, Corpse Roads, Halifax Suffragettes, Rush Bearing, Tod UFO’s, Cragg Vale Coiners, Stones/ paths Churn Milk, Food traditions and Climate/ Fire and Flood. So very varied, which after so long of making one thing is very refreshing to be so open to ideas :)
