I teach four regular weekday ceramic courses at Northlight Art Studio’s in Hebden Bridge on Wednesday afternoons and a Wednesday evening class and Thursday morning and afternoon. Weekend Workshops and Summer Schools

Ceramics Weekender 28th 29th March 2026

An immersive weekend of clay with demonstrations on slabs, coils and surface decoration. If you are on our ceramics waiting list, this weekend is a lovely introduction to ceramics at Northlights.  Come along with a project or not at all and Katch will give you ideas and help you from the basics and up. Also a great weekend for people with more experience and Northlights students to immersive themselves in a weekend project. Space limited to 6 people. The Ceramic Surface  July 2026

A three day summer workshop to really immerse yourself in playful decoration of the ceramic surface. Using slips and underglazes, traditions slip trailing to stencilling. This  workshop is an introduction to surface design using  wet and firm surfaces. Using coloured clay slips and underglazes you will experiment with traditional tools, techniques, transfers and layers to develop decorative themes. Using a range of tools from slip trailing, brushing, mono printing,  stencils and sgraffito. You will get the opportunity to really experiment with wet slip decorating and traditional pottery techniques.

One to One sessions: Course length: 2.5 hours Time: Tuesday afternoons, 1pm to 3.30pm or weekends by arrangement.

Suitable for: Beginners + Do you want to have a go on a potter’s wheel or do you want to learn more about hand built ceramics or surface design. One to one sessions can be tailored to your needs and project ideas. Price includes use of equipment, tuition, tools, basic materials and firings.

Plus tea / coffee. Cost £90 (bring a friend for a small extra fee)
